Notice to Shippers

Dear customer, please note that, with effect 01/03/2010, following changes

in surcharges will apply to West-African ports :

* Bunker contribution (BUC) to all ports                            eur 410 / teu (incl. low sulphur surcharge)

Furthermore we beg you to note that Mediterranean Shipping Company is introducing a

LINER OUT CHARGE (LOC) to all West African Ports with effect from the 1st of March 2010.

Till now the discharging and all costs relating to the discharging of the containers at destination were included in the base freight and thus offered to the customers / freight payers without reflecting the actual discharge costs separately. In order to have a more transparent freight charge structure, it has been decided to separate out these costs from the base freight in an additional freight charge and describe this charge as LINER OUT CHARGE (LOC).

As from the application of the LINER OUT CHARGE,  1st of march 2010 onwards,  the Port Additional, Freight Tax and the Scanning surcharge

will no longer be in force.

It is important to note that the Liner Out Charge will be implemented revenue neutral, which means that the gross/total rate in the existing contract for our customers/freight payers will not increase as a direct consequence of this charge.

NB All sea freight tariffs are under constant review in line with our overall policy to restore rates and revenue but for now there will be no increases.
